EXPOSE - Sporting men who eat a lot of crisps

Stage Clear, the internet's foremost "whenever we feel like it" video gaming show, returns with all the glamour and glitz of the professional gaming scene. We recently watched a great documentary on the topic called Frag and so take a look at how paid gamers fare in the US and Korea. In Shite o' the Week people are on their high horse over Blizzard selling pets, while in 60 Seconds of Fame Rob and I both get into some JRPGs we love - and in So Fucking Indie we talk about a great Xbox indie game called Crate Expectations. And that's your lot!

Reader's Question: "You got any good ideas for reader's questions? We're stumped."

Idea for questions: What is
Idea for questions:
What is the worst you have been burned by nostalgia? Have you gone out to buy an expensive old game, only to find it's shit? Or have you been really hyped up about playing something, for the same to happen?

What are some moments which have made you turn around and think "This is the future of gaming design/storytelling/gameplay"? Were you right?
Possibly leading into some predictions about the future of games design from you two.
I'm not playing any more
I'm not playing any more Persona 4. It was more fun listening to you talk about the interesting plot points that to watch them be stretched out over 6 hours.
Well it's not for everyone,
Well it's not for everyone, glad you gave it a try anyways.
I tried to sell it, but I
I tried to sell it, but I held back. I don't know how to quit it. I think I'm going to see it through, even if it takes me a year.
But we're getting Vagrant
But we're getting Vagrant Story on Europe PSN soon, believe it or not. It took me so many crushing hours to wrap my head around the system, it would be a waste not to play the game again.
After I went back to Persona
After I went back to Persona 4 and spent most of the day with it, I see what's so good. It gets under your skin. The last JRPG I'd tried before this was Dragon Quest 8, and it was just an ongoing roam around another green field to do another fetch quest in another mystical forest. P4 creates this life in it's own world, something that's very jarring when you've come off a normal grind quest, and you have to be ready to play by its rhythm. Every day holds something new, you always feel you're ready to see something you haven't seen before, and when you in there, you realise it's not all about fighting. You're playing a role.
Have fun reading all this during the podcast.
As is my want, I will
As is my want, I will conveniently skip most of what you said as I can't be arsed arguing the toss any longer.
Just wanted to say I wasn't defending Mark Ecko, I know he is a multimillionaire clothing designer about as far removed from the streets as it's possible to get. What I was defending was Getting Up, the game itself - you get to meet the graf orginaters like Seen and Faze, who add pieces into your sketch book. The way the game progresses from markers and stickers all the way up to huge roller pieces is superb - you learn all the techniques in game that you could carry over to RL if you so wished. Where the game fell down was the tacked on near future dytopian setting, overthrowing the government story and the combat that involved. Would have been a lot better to just set it in real life where you had to freerun if you got busted doing pieces. Hope that's the direction Ecko takes the game in future. It doesn't need a story, it's all about the graf.
